How I Stopped Doomscrolling and Started Reclaiming My Value Online.

Paul the Dinosaur enrolls into a School of Digital Income.

At 59, I found myself doomscrolling. Not for news. Not for memes. I was scrolling with purpose—desperately hunting for a way out of the daily grind. Out of office politics. Out of freelancing fatigue. Out of that creeping sense that I was slowly being devalued by a working world that seems to think anyone over 50 belongs in a museum.

I wasn’t looking to retire. My brain still works (mostly). My sense of humour is still intact (arguably). What I wanted—what I needed—was a way to earn a living without sacrificing my sanity or pretending I enjoy Slack messages that say “just circling back.”

That’s when I stumbled into something quietly revolutionary. Not a scam. Not a “one weird trick” scheme. A digital space that didn’t promise riches by Tuesday—but offered something far more powerful: a system, a structure, and a challenge.

I christened it as My School of Digital Income. If I've already stirred your interest, and you are seemingly being treated like a dinosaur, click the button and let my mentor explain more.

🎓 Welcome to Class (Pyjamas Optional)

If you are still reading, lets get a little deeper into it. Unlike the shouty corner of the internet screaming about Lambos and laptop lifestyles, (although the head tutor does make that kind of money) my 'School of Digital Income' didn’t pretend there was just one path. It offered many. Multiple tutors, with different styles of teaching and therefore learning. They have all the videos you could ever watch and then some, written guides, and really inquisitive community forums, as well as challenges you can either embrace or choose to ignore. There is no clocking in. No performance reviews. Just the persistent question: “What do you want to build—and are you willing to do the work?”

What I like the most about them is they are honest.

If you want to make money online, you have to learn how. And then you have to do the work. But the path? That’s up to you.

After a few months in, I’ve begun to realise I’m not just learning to build income online. I’m learning to reclaim my value. Has that stirred you into action, or are you still debating, no worries, this isn't a race to a finish line, just a gentle nod towards learning more, click the button now if you are ready to start.

🧠 Experience Is the New Influence

Let’s talk about age.

I found that in the traditional workplace, crossing 50 often feels like a slow fade into irrelevance. You’re passed over. Replaced. Or quietly expected to “coast” until retirement. Being passionate about things too often gets seen as being stuck in your ways. Or suggesting alternatives is deemed not the "new" way to do it.

Online? Age doesn’t matter—value does.

People don’t Google your birth year. They Google their problems.

  • What’s the best tool for managing my money?
  • What paint actually works on damp walls?
  • How do I stop my dog from barking at the neighbour’s toddler?

They’re not looking for influencers. They’re looking for answers. And those of us who have worked in the real world for decades? We have plenty of those.

Essentially, the mentors teach you how to package things into a valuable commodity that you can then distribute for your own benefit.

That’s why I enrolled. Because I realised that what I know, and what other people over 50 know, isn’t outdated. It’s a goldmine. With the right digital tools and a bit of guidance, we can all turn our knowledge into value, and that value into income.

Is it time you backed yourself to decide how you earn an income, rather than relying on someone to provide you with a position that maybe they see someone younger and cheaper doing?

I go into much greater depth on the topic of ageism in another article - click here to read that.

🔑 AgeIsAdvantageous

Here’s what I believe, and what I’ll be proving as I write more about what I'm learning in this blog:

Experience builds trust. Trust builds income. And trust can’t be faked.

According to a recent study, 82% of buyers say they trust recommendations based on personal experience over trends or marketing fluff. You know what that means?

That YouTube guy in paint-splattered overalls recommending a product? People listen. Because he’s been there. Used it. Has opinions that don’t sound like sales copy.

We, the 50-somethings and beyond, have that same superpower. We’ve been through things. Solved things. Screwed things up and learned the hard way. That’s the edge.

I call this mindset AgeIsAdvantageous. It's a way of flipping the script by building a digital income and creating something nobody can make you redundant from... except yourself.

If you've read this far, perhaps you are ready to light the touch paper and fire up a new way of making money?

I have on the button below five ways to start thinking about a new way of earning. It's absolutely free, and it shows a different way of creating income than your typical 9-to-5 exchange of hours for money. It might just be the best 30 minutes you spend this week.

Stay tuned. Stay focused. And stay pointed.
